Workiva recently reported that, in a rapidly evolving corporate landscape, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives have become paramount. According to a recent survey by Workiva, ESG’s importance continues to surge: nearly 75% of companies have appointed personnel to oversee ESG reporting and initiatives, marking a 6% rise from the previous year.
Notably, 71% of ESG practitioners draw data from three or more internal teams, highlighting both the growth of ESG and its basis in multifaceted reporting. This survey, involving over 900 professionals knowledgeable about ESG reporting, builds on Workiva’s 2022 study that explored challenges and opportunities in this field.
Additionally, the study reports that a staggering 90% of respondents believe that a robust ESG program will confer a competitive edge in the coming years. As ESG knowledge becomes more accessible and integration continues its path to the mainstream, company-wide confidence is set to expand even further.
