According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2023, improvements in gender inequality have recently stagnated, with the overall gender gap closing by only 0.3% in the most recent calendar year. At the current rate, it will take up to 131 years to resolve the overall gender gap, and up to 169 years for economic parity. These estimates are disappointing to activists around the world and many are calling on companies and legislators to take action. To address these challenges in a timely manner, it is essential to improve in all four key areas: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political empowerment. 

Why is gender-gap improvement stagnating? How should we remedy it? Activism? Legislation?
